American Classical Carved and Gilt Wood Convex Mirror

New York, probably third quarter 19th century, finely carved and gilt spread-wing eagle over a leaf-carved circular mirror frame centering a convex mirror plate, 52 x 29 in., breaks and repairs at eagle’s wings, other scattered minor repairs to carved elements, gilding with scattered cracks, flaking and areas of retouch, base pendant drop possibly partly resurfaced.

Fine Charleston Federal Inlaid and Figured Mahogany Pembroke Table

South Carolina, early 19th century, figured top with line inlay and two drop leaves, single dovetailed drawer with original brass pull, verso with false drawer front also with original brass, line and bellflower inlaid tapered legs, 28-1/2 x 20-1/2 x 31 in., opens to 41 in., excellent condition overall, top with slight warping and minor cracks and checking, underside of top with two small holes (no apparent restoration), scattered minor inlay repairs.

Italian Neoclassical Style Carved and Gilt Wood Mirror

Italian, modern with marks for “Palladio Hand Carved Italy”, the removable basket and floral carved crest over rectangular mirror plate with carved surround, 38-1/2 x 32 in., good condition, light surface wear and abrasions to gilding.

Louis XV Style Carved, Parcel Gilt and Painted Trumeau Mirror

French, 19th century, upper panel with oil on canvas courtship scene over a mirror panel with well-carved shell and floral surround, distressed pale blue paint overall, 84 x 42 in., generally good condition, scattered surface wear and minor gilding losses, slightly browned varnish and crackle to paint surface.

Louis XVI Style Marquetry-Inlaid and Bronze-Mounted Marble-Top Commode

20th century, three long drawers with gilt bronze mounts and marquetry panels, 34-1/2 x 52 x 22 in., scattered surface wear with some chips and losses to veneers and some finish losses, middle drawer with abrasion.

Monumental Harris & Harrington Model 9 Chiming Tall Case Clock

Dial marked “Elliott London”, circa 1905, arched dial with painted moon phase, silvered and gilt dial with chimes silent and Whittington and Westminster chimes, finely carved mahogany case with arched pediment, anthemion, bellflower and garland decoration, beveled glass front and side panels, paw feet, 105 x 31-1/2 x 20 in., excellent condition overall, surface wear and abrasions, some wear and polish residue to chapter ring. This clock is illustrated in Tran Duy Ly, Kroeber Clocks, American and Imported, p. 47. The book notes that it is “the premier and most expensive Harris & Harrington tubular chiming tall clock, Model No. 9, with nine tubes that Kroeber used on his letterhead and envelope stationery. This clock’s movement was made by J.J. Elliott & Co. of London, for whom Harris & Harrington were agents. A 1905 price list shows the movement retailed for $185, and the carved case with glass sides as pictured was an additional $117 for a total of $302.” A copy of the book accompanies the clock.

British, second half 19th century, burl walnut and mahogany, fine pierced gallery top, shelves set with marquetry urn inlays, inlaid paneled lower door opening to horizontal shelves, doors with quarter-fan inlays, 48-1/2 x 24-1/2 x 16-1/4 in. excellent restored condition, light wear and very minor surface flaws.

French, second half 19th century, cartouche-form top with brass banding, finely figured and inlaid veneers set with brass and mother-of-pearl inlay, opening to a mirrored interior with removable tray, inlaid frieze over a work drawer, cabriole legs with bronze mounts, 28-1/2 x 21 x 15 in., loss to one bronze foot cuff, cracks to interior mirror, top with cracks and separations, some minor lifting to brass inlay.
